Shea butter is a solid butter that comes from the nuts of karité trees that grow in the Sahel region (west to east Africa). Shea tree is very popular in northern Ghana (just like the Baobab tree in some parts of Zimbabwe). It grows naturally and therefore considered community property even when it grows on property. Shea butter is non-toxic and edible. It contains vitamin A, E and F hence it is great for moisturizing hair and skin (even the skin on your face!). It is also an excellent ingredient for soap and candle making.
